The 3 types of failing
There are three types of academic failing that a student can face during their time at university:
Failing an essay is not great but not a huge problem either! As long as your overall module mark is a pass then this will not hold you back. You can always talk to your department and ask if they would allow you to resubmit the essay.
Failing a module is a little more serious as you may not achieve the credits needed to progress to the next academic year. You will need to speak to your department to see if you can take extra credits the following year or wheater you will have to repeat the year.
If you have failed the year it is most likely because you have failed modules and assessment. As soon as your school has confirmed you have failed you should contact the SU.
Making a complaint
It is possible to complain about any aspect of your university experiance. It is very important that you complain constructively! When complaining you need to ask yourself the following questions:
Appealing a decision
You can appeal any formal decision made by the university. The SU can provide you with an appeals form and guidance on how to complete it.
