This year, from November TSDSU put a call out to ask our students and UWTSD staff across the three main campuses to support the ‘Mr X’ Campaign for its fourth year running. The Mr X appeal ensures that local children wake up to a gift on Christmas Day.
The support TSDSU receives from kind –hearted individuals guarantee this is a success every year.
This year the appeal allocated TSDSU 500 names! The most we have ever had, and we are so humbled to announce that thanks to you, we smashed the target.
Gifts came flooding in to all drop off points, to the extent Lampeter and Carmarthen offices had to find extra storage space for all the wonderful donations. We could hardly move! The university community from students to staff from all departments went above and beyond, eager to take a scroll with a child's name to buy them a gift ready for Christmas.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all students who took a name (many of you took more than one!) and to the staff who also did the same. Without your support, many local disadvantaged children would not receive a present on Christmas Day.
We are planning to sign up to the appeal again for next year too, so if you missed out this year, don’t panic!
If you like the warm fuzzy feeling you got from participating in this wonderful appeal, please consider other ways you could help others less fortunate this Christmas. Swansea, Carmarthen and Lampeter all have local foodbanks which are desperate for donations in the run up to Christmas where many families will struggle to afford food.
We wish all our students a happy, safe and festive season and a very joyful New Year.
