RAG stands for ‘Raising and Giving’ and is a way for students at university to fundraise for a cause or a specific charity, locally, nationally or internationally. Money raised is from a mixture of events that are student or TSDSU led throughout the academic year. Events are run either by students or staff, or a collaboration of both. Our aim is to offer the opportunity to every single student to get involved with all the events or taking an idea and turning it into reality. We work with sports clubs, societies, and individual students to deliver engaging, exciting & innovative fundraising activities. RAG events at TSDSU are fun and worthwhile, offering a wide range of different fundraising activities to appeal to our wide demographic that consists of you, the student body.
Last year we managed to have our most successful year of RAG’ing! Our Part-Time Officers, Sports Teams and Societies combined to raise in the region of £????
For the second year running we managed to run another great Dom Day. In November 2017, Dom Day 2 saw basketball teams battle it out in a fun filled day to commemorate UWTSD student Dominic Newton who tragically passed away from an undiagnosed heart condition. Students and Staff at TSDSU managed to raise £4000 for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) on the day with the support of local businesses and participants. Keep your eyes peeled for Dom Day 3 and how you could be a part and help out!
Part-Time Officers in Swansea took it upon themselves to raise funds for Worlds Aids Day. Students held raffles, cake sales and events to raise as much as possible for this great cause!
Some exciting RAG events were held across our Lampeter and Carmarthen campuses too. From Sports Relief to Race for Life, our students raised some impressive funds for what we think are worthy causes.
If you have a fundraising idea or want to get involved in charitable fundraising during your time at University, TSDSU can advise, help plan and support your event.
